Homeowner Insurance
Your home is often your biggest investment. At AFI, we share your goal of making sure your home and its contents are sufficiently protected. We provide the most commonly needed coverage, plus flexibility to customize your policy to meet your family's specific needs.
Our homeowner insurance is a package that protects your dwelling, personal property, and personal liability. By adding optional endorsements and having your home insured for rebuild cost, you will gain peace of mind and added protection in case of loss. Add a Scheduled Items Policy to help protect your valuable jewelry, watches, furs, and coin and stamp collections over and above the coverage in a standard policy.*
Basic homeowner insurance from AFI covers the following:
- Dwelling
The dwelling is the physical structure which is lived in. The dwelling amount is the base for determining the cost of coverages. The coverage amount should be the cost to rebuild the dwelling if there was a total loss. If the rebuild cost is not known when getting a quote, the purchase price or the amount the home is currently insured for may be used, with the understanding that the dwelling amount may vary once the rebuild cost is determined. The dwelling amount should not include the cost of the land.
- Other Structures
Homeowner policies are automatically written with coverage for other structures. Other structures on your land that are not attached to the dwelling and not used for business or rental purposes. The automatic amount of coverage for other structures is 10% of your dwelling amount, with no additional charge to you. You may purchase additional coverage for other structures.
- Loss of Use
Loss of Use is coverage that will reimburse you for the necessary additional expenses you may have if your home is severely damaged by a covered loss. The amount of coverage varies on the type of policy.
- Personal Property
Non-itemized (unscheduled) household goods are considered Personal Property. Coverage limits depend on which state the dwelling is in and can vary up to 100% of the dwelling amount.
- Personal Liability
Personal Liability is coverage for claims against you for bodily injury or property damage to others. Coverage applies to you and any family members living in the same household. The policy provides legal defense cost and damages up to the limits of the policy. Armed Forces Insurance recommends at least $300,000 of Personal Liability insurance.
- Medical Payments to Others
Medical Payments to Others covers accidental injuries to other people who are not members of your household, whether the injury occurred on or off the property. Payments may be authorized whether you are legally liable or not. Armed Forces Insurance recommends $5,000 of Medical Payments to Others coverage.
The type of coverage Armed Forces Insurance can offer is determined by:
- Owner occupied or rental property
Policies for owner occupied dwellings are written to protect the dwelling, other structures, household goods and liability. Policies for dwellings rented to others are written to protect the dwelling, other structures and liability for the owner of the rental property. It is important to establish who is occupying the dwelling to ensure proper coverage.

Rates are based on the above factors, as well as:
